Kırıkkale İlindeki Bir Grup Okul Öncesi Öğretmeninin Ağız ve Diş Sağlığı Konusundaki Bilgi Düzeylerinin Değerlendirilmesi

Abstract

Amaç: Ağız sağlığında önemli rolü olan okul öncesi öğretmenlerinin ağız-diş sağlığı bilgi ve deneyimlerini değerlendirmektir. Gereç ve Yöntem: Okul öncesi eğitimde çalışan 137 katılımcıya, bilgi ve davranışlarını araştıran açık uçlu ve çoktan seçmeli bir anket uygulandı. Katılımcılar; Grup 1: 10 yıldan az mesleki deneyimi olanlar; Grup 2: 10 yıldan fazla mesleki deneyimi olanlar olarak 2 grupta karşılaştırıldı. Veriler IBM SPSS v.22 programında ki kare ve Fisher’s Exact testleri kullanılarak analiz edildi. Bulgular: katılımcıların %95'i kadındı ve yaş ortalaması 33.70± 8.8 yıldı, %60.60'sı lisans derecesine ve %65'i on yıldan az öğretmenlik deneyimine sahipti. Her iki gruptaki katılımcıların çoğunun; diş sayıları, ilk süren dişler, sürme zamanları, çocuklarda diş fırçalama ve flor uygulamaları ile ilgili sorulara doğru yanıt verme yüzdesi fazlayken; süt dişi çürüdüğünde yapılabilecekler, plak tanımı ve fissür uygulamaları konusundaki sorulara doğru yanıt yüzdesi düşüktü. Çoğunluk diş çürüğü belirtileri, nedenleri ve korunma yolları konusunda bilgiliydi. Sonuç: Grup-2'nin flor uygulaması ve ağız-diş eğitimi alma konusunda bilgi düzeylerinin daha yüksek olduğu bulundu. Ayrıca, diş çürüklerini önlemek için günde iki kez dişlerin fırçalanması ve tatlı yemekten sonra dişlerin suyla gargara yapılması gerektiği sorularına Grup-2 daha yüksek yanıt vermiştir. Ayrıca diş dostu ürünlerde ise Grup-2'deki katılımcılar süt, Grup-1'deki katılımcılar ise kuruyemiş tercih etti.

Abstract

The Level of Knowledge of Pre-School Teachers About Oral and Dental Health
Aim: The aim of the study was evaluated the oral-dental health knowledge and experience of preschool teachers who have an important role in oral health. Materials and Method: 137 participants working at pre-school education were given an open-ended and multiple-choice questionnaire investigating knowledge and behaviors of the participants. Pparticipants were compared within two groups according to their years of experience; those with less than 10 years of teaching experience were recruited as Group-1 and those with more than 10 years of experience were recruited as Group-2. IBM-SPSSv.22 software was used for statistical analysis including Chi-square and Fisher’s-Exact tests. Results: Analysis of demographic-data revealed that 95% of participants were female and the average age was 33.70±8.8 years, 60.60% of participants were holding a BA and 65% belonged to Group-1. While majority of participants in both groups had a high percentage of right answers related with the topics such as number of teeth, dentition, tooth-brushing and fluorine applications, they also had lower percentage of right answers related with the topics such as calf-teeth dental caries, definition of dental plaque and dental fissure. Most of participants were found to have knowledge about the symptoms, causes and protection ways of tooth decay. Conclusion: Group-2 was found to have higher levels of knowledge about fluorine application and receiving oral-dental training. Additionally, Group-2 answered higher for items that teeth should be brushed twice a day and teeth should be gargled with water after eating sweet food to prevent tooth decay. Besides, as for the tooth-friendly products, Group-2 answered milk, whereas Group-1 chose dried nuts.
