Bingöl Üniversitesi Diş Hekimliği Fakültesi Öğrencilerinin Ağız ve Diş Sağlığı İle İlgili Davranış ve Düşüncelerinin İncelenmesi

Year 2022, Volume: 3 Issue: 1, 104 - 116, 17.06.2022

Abstract

Evalution of Oral and Dental Health Behavior and Attitudes of Bingöl University Dental Faculty Students

Year 2022, Volume: 3 Issue: 1, 104 - 116, 17.06.2022

Abstract

The aim of this research is to evaluate the oral health behaviors and attitudes of a certain group of Turkish dental students with Hiroshima University-Dental Behavioural Inventory (HU-DBI). 110 students from the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade students attending the Faculty of Dentistry of Bingöl University in the 2021-2022 academic year participated in the research, which was designed in a descriptive design. The criterion for inclusion in the study was that all questions were answered. In the study, HU-DBI consisting of 20 statements was used to examine the oral hygiene habits and behaviors of the students. Number, percentage and chi-square tests were used in the analysis. Significance was accepted at the p<0.05 level. 63.6% of the participants were women and 36.4% were men. 47.3% of the participating students were first class, 30% were second year and 22.7% were third year. The mean HU-DBI score of the students participating in the study was determined as 5.96±1.64. It was determined that the grade level was statistically significant with the use of dental floss. In addition, it was determined that the smoking status, gender and class level of dentistry students were statistically significant. It was determined that the positive behaviors and thoughts of the dentistry students about oral health hygiene were at a moderate level.
