Abstract

Kanser hastalar› hastal›k süreci, tedavi s›ras›, sonras› ve terminal dönemde kontrolü güç olabilen, çok say›da semptom ile
karfl› karfl›ya kalmaktad›r. Kanserli hastalarda görülen semptomlar›n, etyolojisinin, aralar›ndaki iliflkinin ve etkileyen
faktörlerin anlafl›lmas›, bak›mda daha etkili semptom kontrolüne ve yaflam kalitesinin gelifltirilmesine katk›da bulunmaktad›r.
Birbiri ile iliflkili, üç veya daha fazla semptomun efl zamanl›, bir arada olmas› durumu (örn: a¤r›, yorgunluk ve uyku
sorunlar›) “semptom cluster”, (“semptom grubu” veya “semptom kümesi”) fleklinde ifade edilmektedir. Kanser hastalar›nda
efl zamanl› görülen semptomlar, kendi içinde birbirini etkileyerek semptom gruplar›n› meydana getirmektedir (örn: “bulant›,
kusma, ifltahs›zl›k”). Semptom gruplar›, kanser tedavisi esnas›nda hastan›n fonksiyonel, duygusal durumunu ve dolay›s›yla
yaflam kalitesini daha ciddi düzeyde etkilemekte ve bu hastalar›n bak›m› ve semptom kontrolünü daha da zorlaflmaktad›r.
Gerek hastal›k gerekse tedavi nedeniyle kanser hastalar›n›n yaflad›¤› çoklu semptomlar›n yaflam kalitesi üzerinde olumsuz
etkisinin ortadan kald›r›lmas›, çoklu ilaç kullan›m› ile sistemik toksisitelerin önlenmesi, semptom gruplar›n›n daha iyi
anlafl›lmas› ve kontrolüne yönelik uygun bak›m› ile mümkündür.
