EFFECT OF DETOX DRINKS ON COLOR CHANGE AND WHITENESS INDEX OF COMPOSITE RESINS

Year 2024, Volume: 3 Issue: 1, 39 - 46, 01.03.2024

Abstract

ABSRACT
The aim of this study was to examine the effects of detox drinks and hydrogen peroxide on color change and whiteness index on 3 different composite resins. Twelve specimens were prepared from each composite resins [microhybrid (Herculite, Kerr), bulk-fill (Sonic-fill, Kerr) and minifill (Z200, 3M, ESPE)]. Following baseline color measurements, the specimens were randomly divided into 4 groups according to immersion solutions (distilled water, detox defence, detox super chia and detox skinny). At the end of 1st, 7th, 14th day test periods, color measurements were repeated, and color change values (ΔE) was calculated. Each resin group was applied on bleaching agent (Opalescence-Boost-40%, Ultradent). Following bleaching application, ΔE and changes of whiteness (ΔWID1= WID bleaching- WID baseline, ΔWID2= WID bleaching- WID staining) values were recorded. Data were analyzed using the Friedman, Kruskal–Wallis, and Bonferroni tests at a significance level of 0.05. No color change could be measured in the Sonicfill, Z200 and Herculite specimens immersed in the detox-defense drink on the 7th, and 14th days. The highest level of discoloration observed for the Sonic-fill (29±4,1) specimens immersed in detox-defense drink was on the after bleaching. The lowest level of discoloration observed for the Sonic-fill (1,1±0,8) specimens immersed in distilled water was on the 7th day. For the all specimens immersed in detox-super chia drink statistically significant difference in ΔE1 and ΔEbleaching values were detected (p<0.05). There is a difference between Herculite and Z200 immersed in distilled water was on the 1st, 7th, 14th day and after bleaching (p<0.05). For the Herculite and Z200 specimens immersed in detox-super chia drink and Z200 specimens immersed in detox-skinny-drink, statistically significant difference in ΔWID1 and ΔWID2 values were detected (p<0.05). The Sonic-fill materials were more color change than the other resin composites. Detox-defence drink caused more staining than other drinks. The type of detox drinks had effect on the whiteness of the tested materials.

Detoks İçeceklerinin Kompozit Rezinlerin Renk Değişimine ve Beyazlık İndeksine Etkisi

Year 2024, Volume: 3 Issue: 1, 39 - 46, 01.03.2024
