Technical Developments and Practice of Igrt Image Guided Radiotherapy

Abstract

In the last few years improvements in radiotherapy go in parallel with technological developments which directly affect the treatment and planning techniques. Consequently, basic principles of radiotherapy, to protect normal tissue while increasing the tumor dose, may be more accurately and precisely checked. With the use of complicated treatment plans as IMRT, IGRT method has been developed in order to increase the quality and precision of the therapy. This method is used to check treatment fields with the guidance of 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional anatomical imaging, which can be done with only high technology machines. In this review, we would like to contribute to the major technological developments in the radiotherapy area and our experience with IGRT for the last year
