Sugammadex Reversal of Neuromuscular Blockade For Thymectomy In a Patient With Myasthenia Gravis

Abstract

Myasthenia gravis is an autoimmune disease often characterized by circulating antibodies that block acetylcholine receptors at the postsynaptic neuromuscular junction. The resulting modified neuromuscular transmission leads to increase sensivity in the administration of neuromuscular blocking drugs NMD in case of surgery. Sugammadex is a new selective nondepolarizing muscle relaxant-binding agent designed to reverse the effect of steroidal muscle relaxants like rocuronium. We report a successful use of the sugammadex in a 8 year old male patient with myasthenia gravis to reverse rocuronium-induced neuromuscular block

Timektomi Yapılan Miyastenia Gravisli Bir Olguda Nöromüsküler Bloğun Çevrilmesinde Sugammadeks Kullanımı

Abstract

Miyastenia gravis, postsinaptik nöromuskuler kavşakta asetil-kolin reseptörlerine karşı antikor oluşumu ile karakterize otoimmün bir hastalıktır. Bu hastaların cerrahisinde, noromuskuler iletideki değişime bağlı olarak kas gevşetici ajanlara karşı aşırı duyarlılık görülebilir. Sugammadeks, roküronyum gibi steroid yapılı nondepolarizan kas gevşeticileri seçici şekilde bağlayarak, etkilerini kaldırmak üzere tasarlanmış yeni bir ilaçtır. Bu çalışmada roküronyum kullanılmış 8 yaşında miyastenia gravisli erkek hastanın kas gücünün geri döndürülmesinde sugammadeks kullanımını bildirdik
