A Patient With Special Needs Group: Pediatric Patient With Down Syndrome and Perioperative Nursing Approaches
Abstract
children with Down syndrome compared with other healthy children in peculiar physical, physiological and psychological needs because of differences, nursing care requires careful approach in perioperative period. Therefore, this condition is important that perioperative nurses acquire a comprehensive knowledge base regarding coexisting conditions to properly manage care of this patient populations. in this article, perioperative nursing approaches for pediatric patients with Down syndrome are discussed with regard to the recent literatures
