Abstract
Breast cancer is the most frequent cancer type in women. When we consider the increase in its the frequency and the decrease in age of diagnosed patients, we realise that the importance of a screening program and breast cancer awareness is increasing day by day in our country. The population of young women is significantly higher than that in Europan countries and the incidence of premenopausal breast cancer is dramatically high in Turkey. Raised canser awareness is essential for the effectiveness of a cancer screening program. One way to raise the awareness of breast cancer is through continuous education strategies. The main objective should be to develop a broad screening program that allows identification of high-risk patients in the communities. This program should be designed according to the specific conditions of the country rather than be based on a random screening
