Bedensel engelli masa tenisi sporcularında soft ortez ve kinezyo bantla bel desteğinin ağrı, gövde kas enduransına ve fiziksel performansa etkisinin incelenmesi

Year 2020, Volume: 7 Issue: 1, 28 - 37, 31.03.2020

Abstract

Investigation of the effects of soft orthotics and kinesiotaping lumbar support on pain, trunk muscle endurance and physical performance in physically disabled table tennis athletes

Year 2020, Volume: 7 Issue: 1, 28 - 37, 31.03.2020

Abstract

Purpose: The aim of this study was to compare the effects of kinesiotaping and soft orthotics on lumbar support during performance on pain, trunk muscle endurance and sports related physical performance in physically disabled table tennis athletes.

Methods: Twenty-two advanced level physically disabled table tennis athletes were recruited to study who play in national team, actively playing sports for at least 2 years, having independent trunk balance, with no vision, hearing or mental disorders. Kinesio taping, soft orthotics and free applications were respectively applied to each of the players before training. Pain assessment, joint motion range, modified functional elongation test, manual muscle test, modified sit-ups test, modified abdominal endurance test, special multifidus muscle test, modified push-ups test, number of ball strikes in 60 seconds with forehand-backhand (1-1) combination technique, and with “enter short-exit long” forehand combination technique were applied and recorded in all players.

Results: As a result of the study, it was observed that the application of soft orthosis was more effective than kinesiotaping and free applications in increasing the ball hitting performance with trunk muscle endurance. (p<0.05). Kinesio taping was found more effective than free (p<0.05). It was determined that the soft orthosis and Kinesiotaping application reduced pain compared to free performance (p<0.05).

Conclusion: This study showed that soft orthoses was more effective than kinesiotaping in decreasing pain, enhancement of muscular endurance, and sports related physical performance. We suggest further longer application studies on soft orthosis evaluating the long-term effects of pain, muscle endurance, and sports related physical performance are needed in physically disabled table tennis athletes and others.
