Skolyoz Tedavisinde Kullanılan Schroth Yönteminin Tarihçesi

Abstract

Schroth yöntemi bir ailede üç kuşağın profesyonel çalışmaları ile geliştirilmiş ve gelişmeye devam eden, günümüzde dünyada fizyoterapistler tarafından en yaygın olarak kullanılan skolyoza özel bir egzersiz yöntemidir. Katharina Schroth tarafından 1921 yılında geliştirilen orjinal Schroth yöntemi, kızı Christa Schroth tarafından yeni bilgilerin eklenmesi ile 1940’lı yıllardan sonra orta (intermediate) Schroth dönemini yaşamıştır. Günümüzde ise torunu Dr. Weiss tarafından daha da geliştirilip güncellenerek Schroth Best Practice olarak uygulanmaya devam etmektedir. Schroth yönteminin skolyoz tedavisinde etkinliği randomize kontrollü çalışmalarla kanıtlanmıştır ve kanıt düzeyi seviye 1 olarak kabul edilmektedir. Alanında uzmanlaşmış fizyoterapistlerin hastaları bireysel ölçme ve değerlendirme sonuçlarına göre oluşturduğu tedavi yöntemleri ile pek çok çocuğun ve gencin yaşamını etkileyen bir deformite olan skolyoz tedavisinde önemli başarılar elde edilmektedir.

History of the Schroth Method Used in Scoliosis

Abstract

The Schroth method is a scoliosis-specific exercise method that has been developed and continues to develop with the professional work of three generations in a family and is the most widely used exercise method by physiotherapists in the world, today. The original Schroth method, developed by Katharina Schroth in 1921, improved as the intermediate Schroth period after the 1940s with the addition of new information by her daughter Christa Schroth. Nowadays, it has been further developed and updated by his grandson Dr. Weiss and continues to be applied as Schroth Best Practice. The efficacy of the Schroth method in the treatment of scoliosis has been proven by randomized controlled trials and is considered level 1 evidence. Significant success is achieved in the treatment of scoliosis, a deformity that affects the lives of many children and young people, with the treatment methods developed by experienced physiotherapists according to the results of individual measurement and evaluation of patients.
