Abstract

Aim: Majority of childhood genital trauma are minor ones without any need to surgical treatment. In our study, it was aimed to assess post-treatment monitoring in the external genital trauma cases which are not associated with sexual abuse. Method: The 26 patients admitted to our clinics due to the external genital trauma between June 2012 and May 2015 were included in the study. The cases were examined based on gender, age, etiology and type of injury, injured organs, treatment approaches and outcomes. Results: The 15 of the cases were male (57.7 %) and 11 of them were female (42.3 %). The average age of the cases was determined as 7.76±4.32 years. The most frequently observed reason for the genital traumas in female individuals was to fall down as riding a horse whereas the most frequently observed reason for that in male cases was the ingrown foreign bodies. The vulva injury was observed mostly in female patients while the penis and scrotum injuries were seen in male patients. The most frequent genital organ injury type was detected as laceration in female individuals. On the other hand, the laceration and hematoma in the penis as well as scrotum were determined as the most frequently seen genital organ injury type in male individuals. The surgical treatment was not required in the 23.1 % of the cases. Only in two cases, organ loss was observed (i.e. orchiectomy). In the study, the duration of the hospital stay was approximately 3.09±3.2 days for male cases and 1.2±086 days for female cases. Conclusion: The genital traumas, which constitute the minority of childhood traumas, can be monitored by conservative methods whereas invasive methods are utilized for diagnosis. In particular, the post-treatment organ loss in boys with genital trauma is a serious aspect for the protection of genital organ functions

Çocukluk çağı genital travmalarının üç yıllık retrospektif analizi

Year 2014, Volume: 7 Issue: 3, 80 - 85, 15.10.2015

Abstract

Amaç: Çocukluk çağı genital travmaların çoğu cerrahi tedaviye gereksinim göstermeyen minör travmalardan oluşmaktadır. Çalışmamızda cinsel istismar ile birlikte olmayan dış genital travmalı olgularda tedavi sonrası izlemlerin değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Yöntem: Haziran 2012-Mayıs 2015 tarihleri arasında kliniklerimize dış genital travma nedeni ile başvuran 26 olgu çalışmaya dahil edildi. Çalışmadaki olgular cinsiyetleri, yaşları, yaralanma etiyolojileri, yaralanma tipleri, yaralanan organlar, tedavi yaklaşımları ve tedavi sonuçları açısından incelendi. Bulgular: Çalışmada yer alan olguların 15’i (%57.7) kız, 11’i (%42.3) erkekti.
