Jineko-Onkoloji Hemşireliği ve Rolleri

Year 2023, Volume: 23 Issue: 1, 35 - 40, 02.05.2023

Abstract

Gyneco-Oncology Nursing and Roles

Year 2023, Volume: 23 Issue: 1, 35 - 40, 02.05.2023

Abstract

The number of cancer cases continue to increase in the world and our country and cancer is one of the most important chronic health problems of today due to the high mortality rate. According to the Global Cancer Observatory (GLOBOCAN) 2018, 30.8% of the first 5 cancers seen in women are reported to be gynecological cancers. Cancer is a special, qualified, comprehensive, high-quality, evidence-based, and specialized professional care situation. Because of the situation and gynecological cancers in women, the need for nurses specialized in gyneco-oncology nursing is increasing day by day. In many countries around the world, strong trends in expanding the scope of nursing practices in the provision of health care have led to the development of advanced nursing roles. Gyneco-oncology nursing is one of the subspecialties of Obstetrics and Gynecology Nursing which is an important area of specialization in nursing. Jineko-oncology nursing first appeared in the Oncology Nursing Association in 1989 as a sub-committee of Gyneco-Oncology. Today it is represented as International Gynecological-Oncology Nursing (SGNO).
This article; Gynecology, which is one of the subspecialties of Obstetrics and Gynecology Nursing, has been written in order to define the roles of oncology nursing and its role in the world and in our country.
