Breast Magnetic Resonance Imaging: Current Applications

Öz

Since breast magnetic resonance imaging MRI has higher sensitivity than any other breast imaging modality, it is widely used for the screening, diagnosis and staging purposes. If breast MRI is obtained with the proper technique, it is useful in the pre-operative assessment of patients diagnosed with breast cancer or for the neoadjuvant chemotherapy, as a problem solver in cases which remain equivocal after thorough evaluation with the other radiological modalities, as a screening method for women with high risk of developing breast cancer, in the evaluation of post-operative breast, mammoplasty, implant evaluation, and after reconstruction, since it helps decision making in patient management. This review aims to evaluate the indications of breast MRI while discussing the current guidelines

Öz

Memenin manyetik rezonans görüntülemesi MRG tüm meme görüntüleme yöntemlerinden daha yüksek bir duyarlılığa sahip olması nedeniyle, tarama, tanı, evreleme ve tedavi amaçlı yaygın olarak kullanılmaya başlamıştır. Doğru teknikle yapılmış bir MRG incelemesi; meme kanseri tanısı almış olgularda pre-operatif inceleme ya da neoadjuvan kemoterapi değerlendirmesinde, diğer radyolojik yöntemler ile kesin tanısı konulamayan olgularda problem çözücü olarak, meme kanseri açısından yüksek risk taşıyan kadınlarda tarama amaçlı, post-operatif memenin değerlendirmesinde, mammoplasti, implant ve rekonstrüksiyon sonrası görüntülemede kullanılarak klinik yaklaşımı değiştirecek kararlar alınmasına yardımcı olmaktadır. Bu derleme, meme MRG’nin endikasyonlarını güncel kılavuzlar eşliğinde ele alarak irdelemeyi amaçlamaktadır
