Aim: Existance of individual may possible when integrity of his/her physical, emotional, social, cultural, spiritual and entellectual dimentions is prevented and sustained. Nurses should have the knowledge and skills which cure all these parts. Aim of this research is to determine the knowledge level about spiritual care and spirituality of nurses.Material and Method: The samples of the research are 103 nurses who work in Nevşehir State Hospital. Due to Voluntary participation and unaccessiblity only 64 nurses answered the questionnaire. Data was gathered by a questionnaire form developed by reseachers and by the spirituality and spiritual care rating scale. In the analysis of the data Independent sample T-test and one-way ANOVA tests were used to evaluate. Results: 59.4% of nurses admits that they have the knowledge about spiritual care but due to inadequate time and personel, the needs of spiritual care of patients are not met. Listening and conversationwith patients are determined as a way by the nurses who state that they meet to needs of spiritual care of patients. Average total scale points obtained from spirituality and spiritual care rating scale by nurses are determined as 3.11 ± 0.41. Conclusion: The findings of the research shows that the knowledge of nurses about spiritual care nursing is not sufficient. The suggestion is inclusion of spiritual care courses in nursing education and in service training programs

Öz
Amaç: Bireyin varlığı fiziksel, duygusal, sosyal, kültürel, spiritüel ve entellektüel boyutlarının bütünlüğünün korunması ve sürdürülmesi ile mümkündür. Bu nedenle hemşirelerin bütün bu alanların bakımını sağlayacak şekilde bilgi ve beceriye sahip olmaları gerekmektedir. Bu araştırma hemşirelerin maneviyat ve manevi bakım konusundaki bilgi düzeylerini belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntem: Araştırmanın evrenini Nevşehir il merkezindeki devlet hastanesinde çalışan 103 hemşire oluşturmaktadır. Gönüllü katılım ve ulaşılamama nedenleri ile örneklemi 64 kişi oluşturmuştur. Verilerin toplanmasında araştırmacılar tarafından geliştirilen tanımlayıcı anket formu ile Maneviyat ve Manevi Bakım Dereceleme Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Verilerin değerlendirilmesi tek yönlü varyans analizi one-way anova ve iki ortalama arasındaki farkın önemlilik t testi testleri kullanılmıştır.Bulgular: Hemşirelerin %59.4’ ü manevi bakım hakkında bilgisi olduğunu ancak hastaların manevi bakım gereksinimlerini karşılayamadıklarını, karşılayamama nedenlerinin de zaman ve personel sayılarındaki yetersizlik olduğunu belirtmişlerdir. Hastaların manevi bakım gereksinimlerini karşılayabildiğini belirten hemşireler ise manevi gereksinimleri karşılayabilmek için hastalar ile konuştuklarını ve hastaları dinlediklerini ifade etmişlerdir. Hemşirelerin maneviyat ve manevi bakım dereceleme ölçeğinden aldıkları toplam puan ortalamaları 3.11 ± 0.41 olarak belirlenmiştir. Sonuç: Araştırma bulguları hemşirelerin manevi bakımla ilgili bilgilerinin yeterli olmadığını göstermektedir. Bu bağlamda hemşirelik eğitiminde ve hizmet içi eğitimlerde manevi bakım konusuna yer verilmesi önerilebilir
