Aktif normal eklem hareketi egzersizleri biceps brachii gecikmiş kas ağrısı ve ilgili parametreleri üzerinde etkili midir?

Öz

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı; normal eklem hareketi (NEH) egzersizlerinin biceps brachii gecikmiş kas ağrısı (GKA) ve semptomları üzerinde etkilerini araştırmaktı.

Yöntem: Çalışmaya, Acıbadem Mehmet Ali Aydınlar Üniversitesi kampüsünde bulunan toplam 25 katılımcı dahil edildi. Beş gün olarak planlanan çalışmada; ilk gün GKA oluşturulmak üzere belirlenen protokol tüm katılımcılara uygulandı. İlk gün protokol öncesi ve sonrası, diğer günler ise tedavi öncesi ve sonrası; ağrı, kas kuvveti, NEH ölçümü ve çevre ölçümü yapıldı. Tüm uygulamalar biceps brachii üzerinde yapıldı. Bu nedenle; biceps brachii ve triceps brachiinin kas kuvveti değerlendirilirken, NEH dirsek fleksiyon ve ekstansiyon açıları ölçülerek bakıldı. NEH egzersizleri (günde 5x10/4 gün) GKA protokolü için yapılan eksantrik egzersizden 24 saat sonra başlatıldı.

Bulgular: Katılımcıların yaş ortalamaları 21,04±2,65 yıl ve beden kütle indeks ortalamaları 22,15±3,16 kg/cm2 olarak belirlendi. Uygulanan tedavi sonrası; istirahatte, palpasyonda ve harekette oluşan ağrıda azalma (p<0,01), dirsek fleksör ve ekstansör kas kuvvetinde artma (p=0,002; p=0,003) ve ekstansiyon limitasyonunda azalma (p=0,036) olduğu görüldü. NEH egzersizlerinin, çevre ölçümü sonuçlarında bir fark oluşturmadığı saptandı (p>0,05).

Sonuç: Biceps brachii kasında eksantrik egzersiz sonrası meydana gelen GKA ve semptomlarının azaltılmasında, NEH egzersizlerinin uygulanması başarılı sonuçlar verebilmektedir.

Are active normal joint movement exercises effective on biceps brachii delayed muscle pain and related parameters?

Öz

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of normal range of motion (ROM) exercises on M. Biceps Brachii delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) and symptoms.

Methods: A total of 25 participants from Acıbadem Mehmet Ali Aydınlar University were included in the study. In the study planned for five days, the protocol was applied for creating muscle soreness on the first day to all participants. Pain, muscle strength, ROM and circumference measurements were performed on the first day before and after the protocol and on the other days before and after the treatment. All applications were performed on M. Biceps Brachii. Therefore; while muscle strength of M. Biceps Brachii and M. Triceps Brachii was evaluated, normal ROM was measured for the angle of elbow flexion and extension. Normal ROM exercises (5x10 per day/4 day) were started 24 hours after the eccentric exercise for the DOMS protocol.

Results: The mean age of the participants was 21.04±2.65 years and the mean body mass index was 22.15±3.16 kg/cm2. After the treatment; palpation, rest and movement pain reduced (p<0.01), elbow flexor and extensor muscle strength increased (p=0.002; p=0.003) and joint limitation decreased (p=0.036). It was found that normal ROM exercises did not make a difference on upper arm circumference measurements (p> 0.05).

Conclusion: The application of normal joint movement exercises on M. Biceps Brachii can be successful in reducing the DOMS and it's symptoms.
