Öz
Şefkat, bakım alan ile gerçek bir iletişim, insan-insan arasındaki ilişki ve etkileşimi kapsamaktadır. Şefkat yorgunluğu-bakımın bedeli, hastalarla uzun süreli, sürekli ve yoğun temas, kendini kullanma ve strese maruz kalmanın yol açtığı bir süreç olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Bu makalenin amacı perinatoloji alanında çalışan sağlık bakım profesyonellerinde şefkat yorgunluğu ile ilgili yapılan çalışmaların analiz edilmesiyle farkındalık yaratmaktır. Bu amaçla öncelikle mesleki yaşam kalitesi, şefkat, şefkat memnuniyeti ve yorgunluğu, ikincil travmatik stres ile tükenmişlik olmak üzere ilgili kavramların açıklaştırılması önemlidir. Yapılan çalışmalarda perinatal alanda çalışan sağlık bakım profesyonellerinin şefkat yorgunluğu, ikincil stres ve tükenmişlik açısından orta derecede risk altında olduğu anlaşılmaktadır. Perinatal alanda sağlık bakım kalitesini arttırmak için mesleki yaşam kalitesinin sürdürülmesi önemlidir. Ülkemizde bu alanda çalışan sağlık bakım profesyonellerinin şefkat yorgunluğu ve memnuniyet düzeylerinin ve risk gruplarının nicel çalışmalarla ortaya çıkarılması, nitel çalışmalarla yaşanılan deneyimlerin derinlemesine anlaşılması önerilmektedir.
