ECONOMIC EFFECTS OF COVID-19 ON TELE-MEDICINE

Yıl 2023, Cilt: 9 Sayı: 2, 215 - 226, 31.08.2023

Öz

The purpose of this research is to reveal the economic effects of COVID-19 on telemedicine. In this context, telemedicine applications in the COVID-19 pandemic were examined and their economic effects were investigated. As a result of the examination, it was found that Telemedicine services have economic effects during the COVID-19 pandemic. Telemedicine services experienced an exponential increase of 35% from 2019 to 2020 The size of the telemedicine market was USD 91.2 billion in 2022. Telemedicine services include travel expenses for the patient, loss of income due to not going to work to get health care services, and wasted time; In terms of health institutions, it prevents the use of resources and personnel salary expenses. There is a need for further research involving cost minimization or other economic evaluation methods to address the economic burden of telemedicine applications during the COVID-19 pandemic.
