Abstract

Purpose: The objective of this study is to adapt the “Healthy Eating and Physical Activity Self‐Efficacy and Recall Questionnaires for Children” to the Turkish language.
Methods: The study sample included 233 students aged between 9 and 14. Data were collected through a socio-demographic data collection form and “Healthy Eating and Physical Activity Self‐Efficacy Questionnaire (HEPASEQ-C)” and the “Healthy Eating and Physical Activity Behavior Recall Questionnaire for children (HEPABRO-C)”. In the evaluation of the socio-demographic data, mean and percentage were used. Content validity index, Pearson correlation analysis, Cronbach’s alpha coefficient and explanatory and confirmatory factor analysis methods were used.
Results: As a result of the exploratory factor analysis, factor loadings of the HEPASEQ-C ranged between 0.32-0.75, the fit indexes were 0.90 and above according to the confirmatory factor analysis, and the general Cronbach's alpha coefficient of the scale was 0.62. The Cronbach's alpha coefficient of the HEPABRO-C was 0.61 and the intra-class correlation coefficient was 0.62.
Conclusion: As a result of the analyzes, it was found that the scales were a valid and reliable measurement tool for determining healthy eating and physical activity self-efficacy behaviors in Turkish children.
