An Examination of Proactive Coping, Self-Regulated Learning, and Learning Self-Efficacy in Nursing Students During Clinical Practice
Abstract
Purpose: This study was conducted to determine nursing students’ self-regulated learning, proactive coping, and nursing learning self-efficacy levels during the clinical practice process, and to examine the relationships among the variables.
Methods: A total of 155 fourth-year nursing students were included in this study. The data were collected between October and November 2025 using the “Personal Information Form,” the “Self-Regulated Learning Scale in Clinical Nursing Practice” (SRLS-CNP), the “Nursing Learning Self-Efficacy Scale” (NLSE), and the “PROACTIVE Coping Scale”.
Results: The average age of the students was 21.85±1.07, and mean scores were 64.34±7.81 for the SRLS-CNP, 77.48±8.07 for the NLSE, and 68.37±8.20 for the “PROACTIVE Coping Scale”. A positive and significant association was identified among the scale scores (p<0.05).
Conclusion: The results indicated that students demonstrated elevated levels of self-regulated learning, while their proactive coping and nursing learning self-efficacy levels were moderate. The analyses showed statistically significant and positive relationships among self-regulated learning, proactive coping, and learning self-efficacy. These results emphasize the significance of educational practices that support students’ self-regulated learning, self-efficacy, and proactive coping skills to enhance their learning experiences during clinical practice.
