Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices of Intensive Care Nurses Related To Using Physical Restraints

Abstract

Aim: This study was carried out to evaluate the knowledge, attitudes and practices of intensive care nurses, working at a university and public hospitals in Zonguldak city center related to using physical restraints.Material and Method: This descriptive and cross sectional study was performed to 105 intensive care nurses of 149 intensive care nurses. Data were collected by using Level of Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices of Staff Regarding Physical Restraints Questionnaire and demographic characteristics of the nurses. Data were evaluated by using Mann - Whitney - U and Kruskal - Wallis tests.Results: The mean knowledge score of nurses was 8.00±1.37, attitudes score was 29.66±4.93 and practices score was 33.92 ± 4.65. It was found that intensive care units, working years, working hours between knowledge, attitude and practice scores of nurses were statistically significant.Conclusion: It is found that the knowledge score of nurses was good and attitudes score was positive
