AN ADULT CASE OF CONGENITAL HYPOTHYROIDISM PRESENTING ANEMIA SYMPTOMS

Abstract

Hypothyroidism often leads to anemia due to various mechanisms. Even though newborns with congenital hypothyroidism CH may seem to be normal after birth, severe abnormalities such as mental and physical growth retardation, and speech and gait disorders occur over time. Although anemia may occur in CH, the disease is diagnosed earlier due to severe signs and symptoms. We present an undiagnosed adulthood case who has typical symptoms and signs of CH that has came to us with the complaint of profound anemia. The patient was diagnosed as CH with iron deficiency anemia
