Abstract
Objective: The study was conducted to determine the premenstrual syndrome levels of health sciences faculty students who were adversely affected by the process.
Materials and Methods: The sample of this descriptive study consisted of 500 students studying at a university. The data were collected with personal information form and "Premenstrual Syndrome Scale". The obtained data were evaluated by the researcher in computer environment with the SPSS 21.0 (The Statistical Package for the Social Sciences- PC Version 21.0) package program, and descriptive statistics were used in the analysis.
Results: It was determined that 66.8% of the women participating in the study were in the 21-22 age range and 86.4% lived with their families. 85.3% of them stated that they did not use cigarettes and 81.6% did not use alcohol. It was determined that 61.4% of them had a body mass index in the range of 19-24.9 and a normal weight. Premenstrual Syndrome Scale total score average was 173.00 ± 40.73 severe PMS.
Conclusion: It has been determined that the irregular change in daily dietary intake may lead to an increase in the rate of fat in the body for the future, to adversely affect the level of PMS. It is recommended to observe the effect of the process with qualitative / quantitative studies to be conducted for the factors affecting PMS after the pandemic.
