The Management of Constipation Developed Due To The Use of Opioids In The Management of Cancer Pain

Abstract

Today, the use of opioids in the management of cancer pain is very common. Opioids have side effects that affect daily lives of the patients as in other treatments. One of the most common side effects is constipation. Although evaluation of the symptom is important, there are options for managing constipation with pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods. In this review, current treatment and care methods were discussed in order to increase the health professionals’ awareness

Abstract

Günümüzde kanser ağrısının yönetiminde opioidlerin kullanımı oldukça yaygındır. Opioidlerin diğer ilaç tedavilerinde olduğu gibi bireyin günlük yaşam aktivitelerini etkileyecek boyutta ortaya çıkardığı yan etkiler bulunmaktadır. En sık görülen yan etkilerden birisi konstipasyondur. Semptomun değerlendirilmesi önemli olmakla birlikte, farmakolojik ve farmakolojik olmayan yöntemlerle yönetimi için pek çok seçenek bulunmaktadır. Bu derlemede, sağlık profesyonelinin farkındalığının arttırılması amacıyla, güncel tedavi ve bakım anlayışlarına yer verilmiştir
