Invitation for Special Issue on Aşık Veysel

With the decision of the 41st General Conference of UNESCO, the 50th Anniversary of Âşık Veysel's Death has been included in the UNESCO Anniversary and Anniversary Program with the proposal of Turkey for 2023 and the support of Azerbaijan, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, North Macedonia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. Âşık Veysel, one of the strong representatives of the "Aşıklık Tradition", which made the art of minstrels popular in Turkey and was recorded in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity Representative List in 2009, is commemorated in the world and in Turkey since 2023, the 50th Anniversary of his death.

Rast Musicology Journal is preparing a special issue of Aşık Veysel, under the editorship of Dr.Yusuf Benli, in which various themes related to the art of Aşık Veysel are examined, due to the "2023 UNESCO Year of Asik Veysel". Important dates and other details:
