Abstract

Purpose:This study was planned to investigate scapular dyskinesia, body image and self-esteem in kickbox athletes.
Patients and Methods:Thirty male kickbox athletes and thirty male sedentary individuals were included in the study. After demographic information was recorded, scapular dyskinesia was evaluated by scapular lateral shift test (SLKT), and body image scale and body image, and Rosenberg self-esteem scale (RBSQ), respectively.
Results:The mean age of the kickbox athletes was 25.13 ±7.02 years, and the mean age of the sedentary subjects was 24.96 ±2.51 years. No difference was found between the groups in terms of age, height, weight, body mass index (p> 0.05). There was a difference between the mean scores of body image in both groups (p <0.01). The average body image scores of the male athletes who performed kickbox athletes were lower. There was no difference between the groups in scapular dyskinesia and self-esteem (p> 0.05).
Conclusion:In this study, the incidence of scapular dyskinesia in male kickbox athletes was twice as high as in sedentary individuals. Scapular dyskinesia that occurs in kickbox athletes can directly affect body image and self-esteem in addition to shoulder problems that may result in athletes feeling worthless, helpless, unsuccessful and as a result low self-confidence. It is thought that the evaluation of scapular dyskinesia and the inclusion of rehabilitative or preventive exercise programs in routine training programs are necessary for self-esteem and body perception.

Kick Boks Sporcularında SkapularDiskinezi, Beden İmajı ve Benlik Saygısının Değerlendirilmesi

Year 2021, , 301 - 305, 01.04.2021
https://doi.org/10.31067/acusaglik.850792
