A Study on Knowledge LevelsandPreventiveBehaviors of MidwiferyandNursingStudentsAboutCovid 19 Outbreak

Abstract

Purpose:This research was conducted descriptively to determine the level of knowledge of midwifery and nursing students about Covid 19 and the precautions they take for protection. Patients and Methods:The population of the study was 515 students, 315 of whom were studying at the Midwifery Department of the Faculty of Health Sciences of one city and 200 students from the nursing department of another province, while the sample of the study was 395 students. The data were collected online between May 5-15, using a questionnaire prepared by the researchers. Percentage, frequency and chi-square analysis were used in the study. Results:In the study, it was found that 90.09% of the students had information, 99% correctly defined the symptoms of Covid 19 disease, and 97.7% correctly defined the measures that can be taken to prevent the disease. In addition, it was found that 93.66% of the students took various measures for protection. In the study, the incubation period of the Covid 19 virus was an average of 4-14 days, and a statistically significant difference was found between those who gave the correct answer to the variable and those who gave the wrong answer, according to the sections they read willingly and the sections they read (p <0.05, Table 4). As a precaution, a statistically significant difference was found between the students who stated that they followed the statements made by the authorities and tried to comply with these suggestions as much as possible and the students who answered no to this variable, according to the department they studied (p <0.05, Table 5). Conclusion:It was determined that 66.6% of the students had incorrect information about the treatment related to Covid 19. It may be suggested that midwifery and nursing students be trained on Covid 19 treatment.

Öz

Amaç:Bu araştırma ebelik ve hemşirelik öğrencilerinin Covid 19 ile ilgili bilgi düzeyleri ve korunmaya yönelik aldıkları önlemleri belirlemek amacıyla tanımlayıcı olarak yapıldı. Hastalar ve Yöntem:Araştırmanın evrenini bir ilin Sağlık Bilimleri Fakültesi Ebelik bölümünde okuyan 315 ve başka bir ilin hemşirelik bölümünde okuyan 200 öğrenci olmak üzere toplam 515 öğrenci oluştururken, araştırmanın örneklemini 395 öğrenci oluşturdu. Veriler 5-15 Mayıs tarihleri arasında, araştırmacılar tarafından hazırlanan anket formu ile online olarak toplandı. Araştırmada yüzde, frekans ve ki kare analizleri kullanıldı. Bulgular:Araştırmada öğrencilerin %90.09 oranında bilgi sahibi oldukları, %99’unun Covid 19 hastalığının belirtilerini doğru tanımladığı, %97.7’si hastalığı önlemek için alınabilecek tedbirleri doğru tanımladığı bulundu. Ayrıca öğrencilerin %93.66’sının korunma için çeşitli önlemler aldığı bulundu. Araştırmada Covid 19 virüsünün kuluçka süresi ortalama 4-14 gündür değişkenine doğru cevap verenler ile yanlış cevap verenler arasında okudukları bölümü isteyerek tercih etme ve okudukları bölümlere göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı farklılık saptandı (p<0.05, Tablo 4). Önlem olarak yetkililerin yaptığı açıklamaları takip ettiklerini ve mümkün olduğunca bu önerilere uymaya çalıştıklarını ifade eden öğrenciler ile bu değişkene hayır cevabı veren öğrenciler arasında okudukları bölüme göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı farklılık bulundu (p<0.05, Tablo 5). Sonuç:Öğrencilerin %66.6’sının Covid 19 ile ilgili tedavi konusunda yanlış bilgiye sahip oldukları saptandı. Ebelik ve hemşirelik bölümü öğrencilerine Covid 19 tedavisi konusunda eğitim verilmesi önerilebilir.
